Dear Friends:

Have you invited someone to join you at this Friday’s “Bring a Pal Pizza and Pasta Safari Night?”  It should be a “wild” Friday evening (get the pun?).  I’m showing some pictures from South Africa, we have food, fun and a few surprises.  Sponsored by our Marketing Team, the goal of the evening is for us to have a great time together AND for us all to have a no stress, fun-filled (more of those f’s) event to which we can invite a friend or family (still more f’s) who aren’t part of the church.  It’s a way of introducing new folks to UUCR in a way that is simple, warm and community-focused.  I hope to see you and a friend this Friday, June 8th between 5-6:30 pm.  Suggested donation is $5.00 per person, but your friends dine for free!

This upcoming Sunday is our special congregational meeting to approve our 2012-13 annual budget.  Many folks were very generous in increasing their monthly pledge by $10.00 or $20.00 to help strengthen the budget.  There is still time for you to do so, if you haven’t already.  Or, if you have never before pledged your financial support to the church, why not start with $10.00 or $20.00 a month to help maintain the programs, staff, and buildings at UUCR.  Every bit helps and contributes to the whole.

Lastly, I leave you with some spiritual words.  Anne Principe used them as her benediction yesterday at worship.  I found them quite moving, and, with her permission share them today.  They are adapted from the writings of Christian mystic John O’Donohue and Urdu Shayari:

Night is longer than day for those who dream
May evening find you gracious and fulfilled
May you go into the night blessed, sheltered and protected.
May your soul calm, console, and renew you,

Day is longer than night for those who make their dreams come true.
May dawn find you awake and alert,
approaching your new day with dreams, possibilities and promises.
May your soul calm, console, and renew you.

See you on the path,
Tim
