Youth Ministry
For Youth in Grade Levels 10-12
Youth are an integral part of congregational life at UUCR. This year brings new opportunities for youth to deepen their connections with their peers, to partner with adults in living our mission, and to participate as a leader in our congregation.
Our staff Youth Coordinator Seth Robinson will be collaborating with youth and adult leaders to offer programs that empower youth to share leadership, to grow in their faith, and to put that faith into action:
Senior High Youth Program (SHYP)
SHYP youth group provides a safe and welcoming place for fun, connection, and service. New with this year’s “theme months,” members will be supported in developing and carrying out programs that share their unique talents, interests, and perspectives with their peers, the congregation, and the broader community.
Most Sundays, beginning September 16 6:30–8:30 p.m in Loring 103
SpiritTies: Spiritual Exploration for Youth On Up
SpiritTies offers a new space for youth to go deeper in their spiritual journeys. The program encourages youth to check in, listen, and reflect alongside adults in a shared search for meaning in and through connection. By “letting their lives speak” (and be heard) on big questions, participants will learn to be present to sources of a lived wisdom that spans the generations.
2nd and 4th Sundays of the month 12:30–2 p.m. in Loring 103
✔ Sign up your youth for either or both of these programs by using the online Faith Development Registration Form. And RSVP to Seth Robinson so he knows to expect them!
Social Justice
The evolving Social Justice Ministries Council is looking for one to two youth leaders to help build the world we dream of by joining this group in reflecting, collaborating, and planning for year’s social justice initiatives.
Worship
Youth are invited to lend their gift of voice, music, and participation for UUCR worship experiences—on Sundays and other scheduled occasions like Third Wednesdays.
Teaching
Youth are welcome to join teaching teams in the various Faith Development Explorations.
✔ If your youth is interested in any of these three collaborative opportunities, contact Seth. He will then connect them to staff and other members of the community with a hand in these ministries.
