Job Description: Facilities Manager (Part-Time)

SUMMARY
Our Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the church campus building and grounds, and keeping them in a condition suitable for use by the congregation for worship, classes, meetings, special events, and rentals. As resources for meeting his/her responsibilities, the Facility Manager will have an annual budget for supplies, services, and maintenance contracts as applicable and determined by the congregation, and the support of the church staff and the Building Usage and Building and Grounds Committees.
Essential Functions
- Perform janitorial duties on a weekly basis that assure the cleanliness of the church campus, including the Sanctuary, Atrium, Church Offices, Fellowship Hall and Community Hall, Loring House, and all campus restrooms.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and continual monitoring of the campus systems.
- Basic maintenance and light repair of church campus.
- Stay apprised of building use schedule via on-line calendar and in-office calendar.
- Interface with Office Administrator, staff, and volunteers to coordinate rentals, room usage, and cleaning schedule.
- Facilitate building usage through set up of classrooms, meeting rooms, and halls for meetings, classes, rentals, and other functions.
- Meet weekly as part of Core Staff Team (90 minute staff meeting.
- Maintain church grounds, including cutting of grass with riding mower and push mower, raking leaves, snow shoveling walks, and salting walks.
- Oversee third party contractual companies that perform services on church campus including, but not limited to, trash removal company and cleaning service. Oversight includes evaluating the effectiveness of third party contractual companies and keeping staff and volunteers apprised of status, and contacting third party contractual company about any discrepancies in their work.
- Order and stock custodial materials and reconcile invoices,
- Answer calls, voice mail, and email. Respond to written work requests and trouble tickets,
- Be available, on a fee-per-event basis, to set up and oversee rental functions when appropriate, or coordinate with Office Administrator an appropriate replacement. The Facility Manager may also receive compensation, as outlined by Building Usage Policies, when setting up, cleaning, and directing parking for pre-arranged services (such as Wedding or Memorial Service) that are off hours and noted on our Wedding and /or Building Usage applications. (No other fees may be negotiated separately.)
Supervision
Facility Manager reports to and is supervised by the Office Administrator
Supervisory Responsibility
The Facility Manager supervises all paid contractual third party workers that perform agreed to services on church campus.

- Attention to detail with respect to maintenance, light repairs, and custodial duties
- Attention to financial detail with respect to monitoring the Facilities Management budget and remaining within fiscal confines
- Responds in a timely and positive manner without the direct intervention, but with the support, of the Office Administrator, Minister, and all other staff and volunteers
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with congregants
- Reliability and punctuality
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform janitorial duties
- Ability to maintain church campus grounds with riding mower and push mower, rake, shovel, and broom
- Skills and ability to “troubleshoot” campus systems and avoid costly repairs by updating staff and volunteers of status of systems
- Ability to perform basic maintenance for church campus.
- Ability to interface with vendors such as trash removal, suppliers, and cleaning service
- Basic computer skills for online supply ordering and use of email
- Fiscal responsibility regarding budget, supplies, and vendors.
- Available Sunday mornings for 3 hours
- Available in daytime once a week for 90 minute Core Staff Meeting
- Available to work 2 regularly scheduled office hours weekly (hours to be determined by Facilities Manager in consultation with Office Administrator)
- Available to work other 8.5 float hours as required by the needs of the congregation and Facilities Manager’s personal schedule
Hours
15 hours per week. 6.5 of these hours are to be permanently scheduled as follows: 3 hours every Sunday (9:30 am to 12:30 pm), 90 minutes during daytime for Core Staff Team meeting (time TBD), and 2 hours of “office hours” (TBD). The other 8.5 hours will be float hours with flexible schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
$15.00 per hour / one week paid vacation
